What the Age Calculator Shows
The tool compares two dates and reports the gap between them. It has two date fields and a Calculate Age button.
- Exact Age: years, months, and days, written like 33y 6m 13d.
- Total Months: the number of whole months from the birth date.
- Total Weeks: total days divided by 7, rounded down.
- Total Days: whole days between the two dates.
- Summary Breakdown: the same age in words, total hours, and days until the next birthday.
How to Use It, Step by Step
- Pick your birth date in the Date of Birth field. The page opens with 1995-06-15 as a sample.
- Pick a day in the Age at Date of field. It opens set to today.
- Watch the result card change. Pressing Calculate Age is optional.
- Read the Exact Age card first. Then check the totals and the next birthday line.
Results update as you type or pick a date, and the Enter key works too. If a field is empty or invalid, a red message names it and every card shows N/A.
How the Age Is Counted
The tool adds whole months to the birth date until the next step would pass the second date. Each step lands on the birth day, or on the last day of a shorter month. The days left over are counted one by one.
Whole Years+Whole Months+Leftover Days=Exact Age
- Whole months: the most months that fit between the birth date and the second date.
- Years = whole months ÷ 12, rounded down. Months = the remainder.
- Leftover days = second date minus the last month step.
- Total Months = the whole-month count.
- Total Days = the difference between two calendar day numbers.
- Total Hours = Total Days × 24.
The birth day itself is not counted. A person born on January 1 is 1 day old on January 2. Day counts use calendar dates, so time zones and daylight saving changes cannot shift them.
Worked Example
Priya was born on August 20, 1992. She wants her age on March 5, 2026.

The Exact Age card reads 33y 6m 13d. Total Months is 402. Total Days is 12,250, so Total Weeks is 1,750. Total Hours is 12,250 × 24, which is 294,000.
The next birthday is August 20, 2026. That is 168 days after March 5, 2026.
How to Read the Results
Exact Age is the age most forms want. Total Months counts only full months, so it ignores the leftover days.
Total Weeks and Total Days are plain counts of elapsed time. The hours line reads Total hours (whole days x 24, birth time not used). It is simply days times 24.
The Next Birthday line shows days left and the date. If the second date is your birthday, it shows 0 days. The date is always written like August 20, 2026.
Leap Day Birthdays and Month Ends
Take a person born on February 29, 2008. On February 28, 2026, the tool shows 18y 0m 0d, and the next birthday is that same day. On March 1, 2026, it shows 18y 0m 1d.
In years without a February 29, the tool places the birthday on February 28. The next birthday after March 1, 2026 is February 28, 2027, which is 364 days away. Laws differ on when a leap day baby turns a year older, so check the rule that applies to you.
Birth dates on the 29th, 30th, or 31st also work near the end of February. January 31, 2000 to March 1, 2025 shows 25y 1m 1d. The month step from January 31 lands on February 28, and one more day reaches March 1.

Limitations and Assumptions
- Only dates are used. Time of birth and time of day are ignored.
- The date of birth must not be after the second date. Otherwise an inline message appears and the cards show N/A.
- Years must fall between 1000 and 9999. Other years are refused with a message.
- The page opens with a sample birth date of 1995-06-15, which you should replace.
- The second date starts as today's date in your local calendar.
- Nothing is saved or sent. The math runs in your browser.
- Legal ages, school cutoffs, and benefit dates follow their own rules, so confirm with the official source.
FAQs About the Age Calculator
Does the Age Calculator count the day I was born?
No. It measures the gap between two dates. Someone born on June 15 is 0 days old on June 15 and 1 day old on June 16.
Can I find my age on a future date?
Yes. Enter any later day in Age at Date of. The result shows how old you will be on that day.
Why do Total Months and Exact Age look different?
Total Months counts only complete months. For 33y 6m 13d, it shows 402 and leaves out the 13 days.
How do I know if a year is a leap year?
A year is a leap year if 4 divides it evenly. Century years such as 1900 count only when 400 divides them, so 2000 was a leap year.
What happens if the birth date is after the second date?
The tool shows a message under the fields instead of a pop-up. Every card then reads N/A until you fix the dates.
Is my birth date stored?
No. The calculation runs in your browser, and the page does not save or send the dates you pick.
