The count starts on the From Date and stops before the To Date, unless you choose to include the To Date. Weekend days are Saturday and Sunday. If the From Date is after the To Date, the two dates are swapped and a notice says so. Supported years are 0001 to 9999.

About This Tool

How many days are left until your lease ends? The Days Between Dates Calculator counts the days from one date to another. It also splits them into weekdays and weekend days.

It suits planners, students, and anyone tracking a deadline or a trial period. You pick two dates and choose whether to count the end date. The numbers update as you edit.

What the Calculator Does

The tool compares two dates and reports four numbers. It runs in your browser and needs no sign-up.

  • From Date and To Date are standard date pickers.
  • Include End Date? lets you choose "No (Exclude End Date)" or "Yes (Include End Date)".
  • Calendar Days is the full day count.
  • Weekdays (Mon-Fri) and Weekend Days split that count by day of the week.
  • Total Weeks is the day count divided by 7, with one decimal. A line below it spells out whole weeks and leftover days.

How to Use It, Step by Step

  1. Choose the From Date. The page fills it with your local date when it loads.
  2. Choose the To Date. The page fills it with a date 90 days later.
  3. Set Include End Date? to No or Yes.
  4. Read the Days Breakdown card. It updates when you change a date or the setting.
  5. Press Calculate Days if you prefer, or press Enter in a field. The result is the same.

How the Count Works

The tool turns each date into a whole day number. It then subtracts the earlier number from the later one. When you include the end date, it adds one more day.

Later Date-Earlier Date+1 If End Date Included=Calendar Days
  • Weekdays + Weekend Days = Calendar Days.
  • Saturday and Sunday are weekend days. Every other day is a weekday.
  • Total Weeks = Calendar Days ÷ 7, shown with one decimal.
  • If the From Date is later than the To Date, the tool swaps them and shows a notice.

Worked Examples

Priya wants the days from 2026-01-01 to 2026-03-01. Both dates are written as year, month, day.

SettingCalendar DaysWeekdaysWeekend DaysTotal WeeksWeeks and Days
Exclude End Date5942178.48 weeks and 3 days
Include End Date6042188.68 weeks and 4 days

The extra day is 2026-03-01, a Sunday. That is why only the weekend count rises. The weeks figure comes from 59 ÷ 7 = 8.43 and 60 ÷ 7 = 8.57. The last column shows 8 whole weeks plus the remainder.

Now take Marcus, who works from Monday 2026-03-02 to Friday 2026-03-13. With the end date excluded, the tool shows 11 days, 9 weekdays, and 2 weekend days. With the end date included, it shows 12 days, 10 weekdays, and 2 weekend days.

Leap years work too. From 2028-02-28 to 2028-03-01, the tool shows 2 days when excluding the end date and 3 days when including it. The extra day is February 29, 2028.

How to Read the Results

Calendar Days counts every day, weekends included. Large numbers use US commas in every browser, such as 1,096 for 2026-01-01 to 2028-12-31 with the end date included.

Weekdays (Mon-Fri) counts Monday through Friday. Public holidays are not removed, so a Monday holiday still counts as a weekday.

Weekend Days counts Saturdays and Sundays. Total Weeks is rarely a whole number. A value of 8.4 means eight weeks and about three days, and the line below it gives the exact split.

Include the End Date or Not

This setting matters when a rule says "through" a date or "until" a date. Same-day inputs show the effect clearly. Using 2026-06-15 for both dates gives 0 days with the end date excluded. It gives 1 day with it included.

A hotel stay is a good case for excluding the end date, since you pay for nights. A project that runs through Friday is a good case for including it. Read the rule you are checking and match the setting to it.

For a span in years, months, and days, try the Date Difference Calculator. To skip weekends in a deadline, use the Business Days Calculator.

Daylight Saving, Time Zones, and Leap Years

The tool counts calendar dates, not hours. It uses plain day numbers and never looks at clock times. A 23-hour or 25-hour day around a clock change still counts as one day. US clocks change on 2026-03-08, and the range 2026-03-07 to 2026-03-09 still shows 2 days.

There is no time zone setting, and the result is the same in every zone. Only the starting dates use your device's local date. A leap day is counted whenever February 29 falls inside the range. The range 2026-01-01 to 2027-01-01 gives 365 days, and 2028-01-01 to 2029-01-01 gives 366.

To watch a future date approach, use the Countdown Calculator. For a birth date, the Age Calculator is a better fit. For hours and minutes, see the Time Duration Calculator.

Limitations and Assumptions

  • A blank or invalid date turns all four cards to N/A. A message names the field, such as From Date or To Date.
  • Years must fall between 0001 and 9999. A year outside that range gives a message instead of a count.
  • The count is never negative, so the result alone does not tell you which date came first.
  • Holidays are not excluded, and you cannot add custom days off.
  • Weekend days are always Saturday and Sunday. Regions with other weekends need a different tool.

FAQs About the Days Between Dates Calculator

Does the calculator include the start date?

Yes, the start date is the first day of the count. With the end date excluded, 2026-06-15 to 2026-06-16 gives 1 day.

Why is my answer one day off from another tool?

Most differences come from the end date. Some tools include it, and some do not. Switch the Include End Date? setting and compare.

Does it count weekends and holidays?

It counts weekends in Calendar Days and also reports them separately. It does not know about public holidays.

What happens if I enter the dates in the wrong order?

The tool swaps them and counts the same span. A notice says the dates were swapped and shows the order it used.

Can I count days into the future?

Yes. Pick any later To Date, such as 2026-12-25, and the tool counts forward from your From Date.
